Overview and Instructions
As a coach or volunteer within the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF) network, you are a vital role model, which is why we require all youth coaches and volunteers to pass an annual criminal background check before taking the field. This requirement is our primary tool for ensuring a safe, secure, and positive environment where young athletes can thrive.
The TAAF background check is a two step process - an application and a background check.
1) TAAF collects contact, affiliation and sport information from you in an application. If you are a Member City Coach or Volunteer, TAAF will contact your Member City to approve your application.
2) Shortly after you submit the application, if approved, you will receive an email from TAAF with further instructions on how to enter the background check portal of our partner, NCSI. For Affiliate Coaches, this instructional email will be sent within minutes of your submission. For Member City Coaches and Volunteers, this email will be sent once we have approvals from your Member City.
